Understanding the Health Check - Health Check Guide
Overview of The Nine Phases of Productivity
The Health Check contains eight sections with five questions in each section. Phase 1 has been deliberately left out of the Health Check, as everyone is assumed to have achieved Phase 1 simply by being in operation as a business.
The phases in this guide are detailed as:
- Phase 2: Computerised
- Phase 3: Enterprise Integration
- Phase 4: Supply Chain Integration
- Phase 5: Workflow
- Phase 6: Workflow Automation
- Phase 7: Constraint Management
- Phase 8: Buffer Management
- Phase 9: Work-Mix Management
These nine phases are grouped as follows, each leveraging its predecessor:
- Phases 1 to 4 are a focus on data (data handling and data availability).
- Phases 5 and 6 are a focus on processes (operating procedures and their automation).
- Phases 7 to 9 are a focus on management methodology (the management of risk and value-adding strategy).
The next pages of this lesson will break down each question in the Health Check for you, to aid you in understanding the question and how it applies to you.
Each section will be laid out with each of its questions and answer options. If an answer option seems to require a bit more clarity (e.g. example or a breakdown for further clarification), such content will be located as a sub-bullet below the answer in italics.
Below each question and answer selection, the information will include background information you may need to know, questions you may want to ask yourself to answer the question, etc.
