How - Engagement Options: WiseService Partner Consultant
The WiseService Partner Consultant Approach
Many people choose to complete the Health Check with the assistance of a WiseService Partner (WSP) consultant.
An experienced consultant can guide you one-on-one (via Skype or phone) through the Health Check and answer any queries you may have about the questions or answers.
During the call, the consultant will run through the series of assessment questions used in the Health Check.
After the call, they will arrange a follow-up call to review with you a graph showing how you rate on each of the Nine Phases of Productivity.
Hiring a WSP consultant is the safest option as they can use their experience in managing projects to help you make fewer mistakes.
Hiring a WSP to take you 'across the lake' (if you want to complete the project quickly) would mean paying the WSP to take you "across the lake in their ship":
- The ship is analogous to the commercial plan, infrastructure and safety nets necessary to ensure safe passage.
-
The problem is that to a business owner or manager, it can often look like a WSP is woefully underprepared; the WSP’s ship doesn’t look sturdy.
-
There’s a perception problem here as the WSP is quite adequately prepared and their ship is very sturdy. The WSP is familiar with the journey and knows what is necessary and what is over sufficient.
-
The implementation of Safe Harbours might require more time and money if you decide to pay a WSP instead of doing it yourself, but those options are no different if you compare like-for-like.
You can go 'across the lake' with a WSP or by yourself vs. you can take the Safe Harbours (around the sides) approach with a WSP or by yourself:
-
In either case, going around the sides ends up being quicker and has a lower risk for those without prior experience and who want to minimise the perception of risk for themselves, and for their team.
-
It feels a lot safer, a lot less risky, and allows owners and managers, or both, to retain a greater sense of control.
Clearing Prerequisites
It is recommended to hire a WSP to clear the prerequisites of your Productivity Journey. A WSP will help guide you through some of the process and policy changes you need to make, as well as provide technical support for the transition.
This is especially important if your team leaders are only half-committed or if your business has scored poorly in the Nine Phases of Productivity.
The highest level of support is to hire a WSP to manage the project for you. The exception is if you are confident you already have the skillset to make it all work; mainly because it’s an all-or-nothing change. You need to implement fully and have everyone working from the one system, otherwise, you are probably going to experience a lot of problems with implementation.
So, if you’ve had trouble with implementing process changes or new systems and getting them to 'stick,' hiring a WSP is the best option for you to implement change.
It is still recommended that you complete the Tutorial Series to get a basic understanding of the paradigm shifts and behaviour changes that will need to be implemented by the WSP.
