Risk Management - A Shift in Thinking: Introduction
So, you're planning to implement a Phase Seven and Eight Productivity Jump, and you are looking to clear the necessary prerequisites before a rapid install of the change. However, there are some important ‘shifts in thinking’ that need to occur first.
- Phase Seven - Constraint Management, “Getting More Control Over Your Workload”
- Phase Eight - Buffer Management, “Managing 'At-Risk' Jobs Before They Cause Damage”
The purpose of this lesson to make clear the need for such shifts in thinking. It will introduce some of the common dilemmas that occur in a rapid change project and explain how these dilemmas can be addressed and avoided by having the shifts in thinking locked in before proceeding.
There are several ‘shifts in thinking’ or paradigm shifts that need to occur in a company to ensure that a rapid install or rapid change project is successful.
Learning purpose:
This lesson will:
- Explain why it is necessary to have these shifts in thinking
- Introduce you to the dilemmas that occur in a rapid change project.
Upon completion of this lesson, you will:
Gain a greater understanding of the necessary shifts in thinking that are needed for the successful implementation of a rapid change project (i.e. PAVE).
This lesson will cover:
- The problems that exist prior to a shift in thinking.
- The biggest obstacles and negative effects that can occur.
- The benefits of achieving a shift prior to implementation.
Upon completing this lesson:
- You will be aware of the necessary paradigm shifts in thinking needed for successful install
- You will see the need for, and importance of, preventing backsliding
- You will sense the changes that will occur from these shifts in thinking
This lesson will make you aware of the changes necessary for a successful implementation. It will put you in a position where, if negative effects occur, you do not choose to undo the solutions, thereby sustaining your gains.
